My name is Kirsty Ida Brown and I'm a Textile Design graduate from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design 2022.
As a designer, the natural world is my inspiration. As I take my visual inspiration from nature, I also borrow my materials from nature. The concept of borrowing is a key feature of my designs. I borrow my colour from natural elements, using natural dying processes.
I strive to follow a circular design approach and for my designs to have a positive impact on our health and wellbeing. Having a connection with nature has proven to be a significant factor in improving mental health and wellbeing. ‘Biophilia’ is the fundamental truth that people need a relationship with nature to be happy. My designs are fully natural from visual inspiration to material choice to promote a connection with and respect for nature. All the materials and processes I have used are sustainable and environmentally friendly.
